Mayoral Candidates
Lain Lovelace
As your Mayor, my vision is to build on our strengths and create opportunities for growth and development in our town. I am committed to fostering a sense of community, improving our infrastructure, and ensuring that Balgonie remains a safe, welcoming place for all its residents. Working together, we can achieve great things and make Balgonie a beacon of progress and prosperity.
Continuing to pursue first rate services and maintaining a close-knit, small-town atmosphere while developing responsible commercial opportunities to supplement the tax base will continue to be my focus.
Balgonie has been my home since 1988, where my wife Virginia and I raised our two children. My 38 years as a professional engineer and various senior leadership positions have allowed me to make a unique contribution on Council. I have had the honour to have served on Town council since 2012, including as mayor this last year. Over the past twelve years, the Town has moved forward with many positive accomplishments; I intend to continue this course, working along side the Balgonie Town Council, administration and staff in service of the community.
Everyone who knows me can easily see the great pride I take in calling Balgonie my home.
I am honored to have the opportunity serve the community and look forward to a great future for Balgonie.
Thank you for your trust and support.

Janet Wagman
My name is Janet A. Wagman. I am presently serving my third term as a Balgonie Town Councillor. My husband, Patrick, and I have lived in Balgonie for 45 years, raising two daughters, Courtney and Kimberly. I retired in 2020 after a 42-year career as a business auditor with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Finance.
Over the past 12 years I have been proud of the Balgonie Town Council’s achievements, including seeing a new pool development come to fruition, a U18 ball diamond, and the beautification of Railway Street with fir trees. I am committed to maintaining Balgonie as a safe, progressive, and vibrant community, with ongoing residential and commercial growth.
I presently serve on the Finance, Lands & Buildings, Health & Cemetery, and OHS committees and have represented the town on the Library Board for 12 years. A passionate animal lover, I am a strong advocate for Regina Cat Rescue. My husband and I have rescued many stray cats over the past 15 years.
I believe in common sense, transparency, and accountability in municipal government and am dedicated to enriching the Balgonie community.
