Cory Blair – Candidate Package

My primary goal is to work collaboratively with my fellow councilors to ensure the long-term viability of our beloved town, Balgonie. After retiring from the RM of Edenwold, where I spent 37 years gaining valuable experience in the maintenance and construction of municipal infrastructure, I have developed a strong understanding of council procedures and processes.

With over 15 years as a member and President of the Parks and Recreation Board, as well as service on the Board of the Balgonie Curling Rink, I am deeply invested in our community’s needs and aspirations. Additionally, as a certified Water and Wastewater Operator and currently serving as the Senior Operator with WCRM158 Wastewater Management Authority Inc., I bring technical expertise that will benefit our town’s infrastructure and sustainability.

I truly appreciate the work our current council has accomplished in beautifying our town and enhancing walkability. These initiatives not only improve our quality of life but also reflect the heart and soul of our community. I am eager to build on these efforts, making Balgonie an even more vibrant place to live, work, and play.

Wade Hoffman – Candidate Package

I love Balgonie.

It is a beautiful town that is growing to meet the needs of our citizens of today and tomorrow. We have so much to be proud of, from our top-of-the-line community facilities like the Multiplex, skating rink and walking paths, to our soon to be brand new pool!

My wife, Amber, and I both grew up here in Balgonie and are raising our children, Evan and Brody here. I am a member of the Balgonie Early Learning Centre board and am in my third year of coaching children’s ringette.

As a first term councillor I have been excited to learn about municipal government and everything that goes into making a town run. I am proud of the work we have done this term with my fellow councillors and mayor building a strong, open and respectful relationship among Council, town administration, our neighbouring communities and the citizens of Balgonie.

In the past four years Council has been successful in building a dog park, expanding our walking paths, renovating and expanding our ball diamonds and constructing a new swimming pool.

If elected for a second term I will continue to work to see Balgonie grow sustainably while maintaining that safe small town feel that we all enjoy. Having young children gives me a unique perspective on the services Balgonie has to offer and supporting our local community groups.

My name is Dwayne Meier, and I have had the honor of serving Balgonie and its residents as a councillor for the past four years. With your support, I am eager to continue contributing to our community.

My family and I have been proud residents of Balgonie for the last 11 years. My children attend BES and are active in local sports within the community. I am a journeyman electrician by trade, I am also an active community member, coaching youth football and participating in both the Fire Department and the Medical First Responders’ group in Balgonie. Additionally, I support various sports, recreation, and fundraising events in town. My wife, Tara, is deeply involved in the community, serving on the Medical First Responders’ group and the Emergency Measures Organization for the White Butte area.

I believe that sustainable growth in our community will foster unity and make Balgonie an excellent place to raise a family while maintaining affordability.

During my tenure as councillor, I managed portfolios including Equipment, Maintenance and Engineering, and Public Works & Utilities. I also collaborated with the Occupational Health Committee for the town of Balgonie.

My name is Janet A. Wagman. I am presently serving my third term as a Balgonie Town Councillor. My husband, Patrick, and I have lived in Balgonie for 45 years, raising two daughters, Courtney and Kimberly. I retired in 2020 after a 42-year career as a business auditor with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Finance.

Over the past 12 years I have been proud of the Balgonie Town Council’s achievements, including seeing a new pool development come to fruition, a U18 ball diamond, and the beautification of Railway Street with fir trees. I am committed to maintaining Balgonie as a safe, progressive, and vibrant community, with ongoing residential and commercial growth.

I presently serve on the Finance, Lands & Buildings, Health & Cemetery, and OHS committees and have represented the town on the Library Board for 12 years. A passionate animal lover, I am a strong advocate for Regina Cat Rescue. My husband and I have rescued many stray cats over the past 15 years.

I believe in common sense, transparency, and accountability in municipal government and am dedicated to enriching the Balgonie community.

My wife Leeann and I have proudly called Balgonie home for the past 19 years. We were drawn to this town for its perfect blend of amenities and the close-knit community atmosphere, which has proven to be the ideal environment for raising our family.

With 31 years of experience at SaskEnergy, currently as an Operations Manager, I bring a wealth of knowledge and leadership skills. My commitment to Balgonie is evident through my active involvement in the Curling Club, where I served as President from 2011 to 2017, and my participation in the Tumbleweed Theater and Annual Dinner Theater.

As a councillor, my primary goal is to build on the strengths of our community. I am dedicated to ensuring Balgonie remains a safe, welcoming place for families to thrive. I will work together with the Council to maintain high-quality services and promote sustainable growth. Additionally, I aim to support our local businesses, fostering a prosperous and vibrant economy.
