Interested in running as a member of Council? It is a great opportunity to help shape the future of our Town! Elected Officials would serve a 4 year term. Time commitments of the term include:

  • Meetings of Council (approximately 24/year)
  • Meetings of Council Committees
  • Conferences, workshops, and conventions for training
  • Events that promote the Town

You may run for Council if:

  • You are 18 years of age on or before Election Day
  • At the time you submit your nomination papers, you are a Canadian Citizen and have resided in Balgonie for at least 3 consecutive months immediately proceeding the date of your nomination papers and are in Saskatchewan for at least 6 months immediately proceeding the date the nomination papers are submitted.
  • Are not disqualified by The Local Government Election Act, 2015 or any other Act from holding the office for which you are the candidate.

You may not run for Council if:

  • You are a Judge of any Court;
  • You are an Auditor or Solicitor of the Municipality.
